It takes you directly to a list known as My Tasks. Google Tasks doesn’t have a My Day feature. When you launch Microsoft To-Do, you are taken to the My Day screen where you can see all your tasks for the day. ![]() It could be because of the Material Design 2. Strangely, swipe doesn’t work in Google Tasks. You can access the navigation drawer by swiping too. On the other hand, Microsoft To-Do follows the traditional top menus. So, all your settings and navigation drawer can now be accessed from the bottom. Just to prepare you for the upcoming wrath, all the Google apps will have a similar white-ish design soon. Google has incorporated yet-to-be-announced Material Design 2 in Google Tasks. However, it’s not as modern as one would expect it to be. You can also access Google Tasks from the Chrome extension. In the old Gmail design, it was kind of buried down on the left side but in the revamped Gmail, you can find it on the panel at the right. To access it on the desktop, you’ll have to use the Gmail website or the web version. However, the tool lacks a Chrome extension. It is now available on Android, iOS, Windows, and has a web version as well. The popular Wunderlist app had to die to give way to Microsoft To-Do. Microsoft To-Do has been in the game for over a year. While Google Tasks weighs 4-5MB, Microsoft To-Do ranges between 9-10MB. The new Google Tasks app is half the size of Microsoft To-Do. It’s basically Google Tasks, don’t know why all apps have to add a bunch of mumbo jumbo to their names on Play Store.Īnyway, since I am a regular user of the Microsoft To-Do app, I decided to give Google Tasks a shot and see if it’s good enough to replace the former. The app goes by the name ‘Google Tasks: Any Task, Any Goal. The To Do app enables us to manage many tasks at once, organized into their respective lists and groups, from your desktop or on the move.Last week, Google launched a standalone app for its Tasks feature. Long gone are the days of paper and pen to manage your tasks. You can also create groups and lists and share and manage list access from the mobile app. It is also worth mentioning that To Do has a user-friendly mobile app. Creating a group in a list is ideal for smaller projects that don’t require using the Planner app or a more comprehensive project planner. The To Do lists and groups features give us the ability to organize tasks into lists and share and manage those with colleagues. You can select this icon to see who has access to the list. You’ll notice the share icon in the upper right corner of your list has been replaced with a people icon that shows how many members share the list. Once they have joined the list, they can create items, mark items completed, and be assigned to tasks. This will prompt them to sign in to officially join the list. Once you have shared the list with your co-workers, they will receive an email notification to join the list. This means you can adjust membership, limit access to prevent new people from joining the list, or completely stop sharing the list. The share dialog also allows you to manage access to this list. Once you’ve created the link, you’ll be able to invite others to your list via email or you can copy the link to send directly to others. This icon will prompt you to create an invitation link. In the upper right-hand corner of the list, you will see a share icon. I do this by giving others access in To Do. In my Logistics list, I want to start assigning tasks to the team but before I can do that, I need to share the list. Create your own categories for the tasks.Assign the task to yourself or a co-worker.Repeat the task (so it’ll be due on a regular basis, such as every week).When you select a task in a list, you can adjust a number of details per task including: Once you have your lists created and organized into groups (where applicable), you’re ready to add tasks to the list(s). I have created a new list called Logistics and dragged it into my group Lunch and Learn Series. Next, you will create a list to house your tasks. For example, I’ve titled mine Lunch and Learn Series. Once you create a group, you will be prompted to give it a title. ![]() Once in To Do you will see the option to create a new list at the bottom of the left-hand navigation panel and next to that you will also see an icon to create a group You can open To Do from Outlook Online or the app launcher found on the home page.
